Wild Hearth Bakery is looking for a highly motivated baker to join our team.
We are a wood-fired sourdough bakery based in the village of Comrie, at the southern edge of the Scottish Highlands, approximately one hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Role
Full-time position: 40 hours per week (four 10-hour shifts)
Daytime shifts: Monday-Friday (with occasional weekend work)
Shifts include: mixing, shaping, and baking sourdough bread and viennoiserie; monitoring fermentation/proofing throughout the process, and mixing/maintaining sourdough starters
Salary above Real Living Wage, dependent on experience
Paid overtime
The bakehouse at Wild Hearth is a physical and fast-paced environment, so this role will suit someone who enjoys working hard as part of a close, energetic team.
About Us
Almost everything we make is pure sourdough. We use only organic flours and bake direct (no retarding), meaning timing, organisation, and consistency are essential to getting everything through our beautiful wood-fired oven at exactly the right moment. We are also one of the few bakeries in the UK – indeed worldwide – producing 100% naturally leavened viennoiserie.
Who We’re Looking For
This job will suit someone with:
At least one year’s experience in an artisan bakery environment
A strong work ethic
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to work well within a busy, collaborative team
Most importantly, a genuine passion for baking
If you have less experience but can clearly demonstrate your potential (i.e. through extensive home baking or other relevant kitchen/chef experience), commitment to the craft, and provide excellent references, we’d still love to hear from you.
